# Zeus > Zeus is a free, open-source (Apache-2.0), local-first download helper for AI assistants, made by Verne Ltd. (Dhaka, Bangladesh). It lets agents such as Claude Code, Cursor or Codex download files reliably through the Model Context Protocol: it resumes interrupted transfers, rescues failed browser downloads through a Chrome/Edge extension, uses a website login only after a person approves that site, verifies every file, and sends no telemetry. Status: pre-alpha (October 2026); the source is public on GitHub. - Maker: Verne Ltd., https://vernesystems.com - License: Apache-2.0; free; no account; no telemetry - Platforms: pre-alpha builds for Windows x64 and Linux x64; macOS later. Browser extension for Chrome and Edge (source on GitHub, not yet packaged), Firefox later - Agent interface: Model Context Protocol (MCP) tools named zeus_*; a local JSON-RPC API for everything else - Safety: approvals are human-only; the browser cookie database is never read; cookies are held in memory for at most 15 minutes - Status: pre-alpha; release 0.0.1a (unsigned, Windows x64 and Linux x64) on GitHub, and a hosted pre-alpha in the browser at https://zeus.103.191.50.32.sslip.io/ - Source: https://github.com/ArefinAlter/zeus (app), https://github.com/ArefinAlter/zeus-core (engine), https://github.com/ArefinAlter/zeus-extension (browser extension) - Sibling product: Ogun, a developer platform for data pipelines and agent benchmarks built on the same engine (https://ogun-site.vercel.app) ## Product - [Home](https://zeus-site-bay.vercel.app/): Zeus lets Claude Code, Cursor and other AI assistants download files reliably: it resumes, rescues failed browser downloads and asks you before using any login. - [Console preview](https://zeus-site-bay.vercel.app/preview/): Explore a simulated Zeus workspace: a download queue, link inbox, agent plans and permission review.
