Extension privacy policy

The Zeus extension collects no data and sends nothing to any server. It has no analytics, no telemetry, no crash reporting and no account.

Effective 2026-10-06Last updated 2026-10-26Applies to zeus-site-bay.vercel.app and Zeus

Single purpose

Zeus finishes downloads that a browser could not finish. When a download is interrupted, the extension offers it to the Zeus app running on the same computer, shows you what Zeus asks permission for, and, only after you agree for a specific website, lets Zeus use your own signed-in session for that website so the file can be completed.

What it handles

InformationWhat happensWhere it goesHow long
Details of a download the browser could not finish (address, size, file name without folder, the browser’s error code)Sent to the Zeus app when a download is interrupted and the handoff is on, or when you press “Finish with Zeus”.Only to the Zeus app on the same computer, through the browser’s native-messaging channel.Kept by the Zeus app in its local download record, not by the extension. The extension keeps no address, only an opaque key and the browser’s download number.
Cookies for one website you approvedRead only after you approve that website (once, 24 hours, or a plan) and only when the Zeus app asks for them for one of your downloads. At most 15 minutes of use per release.Only to the Zeus app on the same computer. Not stored, not logged, not sent anywhere else. In memory for the moment of the transfer; the app wipes them after at most 15 minutes.
Your decisions (sites allowed and for how long, sites blocked)Stored locally so the extension can check them before releasing anything.Stays in your browser profile.Until the choice expires or you revoke it.
A random identifier for this browser profileCreated once, stored locally, so the Zeus app can address the right profile.Only to the Zeus app on the same computer.Until the extension is removed.
Two settings (offer interrupted downloads; show notifications)Stored locally.Stays in your browser profile.Until you change them.

What it never does

  • Send cookies, addresses, file names or any other data to a remote server, to Verne or to anyone else.
  • Read your browsing history, your open tabs or the content of web pages. It has no content script.
  • Release cookies for a website you did not approve, or for a plain http site (except your own computer, localhost).
  • Read, open or modify your finished downloads.
  • Override the browser’s safety decisions: a download blocked as dangerous is never offered to Zeus.

Permissions and why

PermissionWhy it is needed
downloadsTo notice interrupted downloads, read their details to offer them to Zeus, and fetch a fresh link for an expired download when you approved that site. It never opens or deletes your files.
nativeMessagingThe only way it talks to the Zeus app on your computer. No other program or server is contacted.
storageTo remember your decisions and two settings. Cookies, addresses and file contents are never stored.
notificationsTo tell you a decision is needed or a file is done. Notifications never decide anything.
alarmsTo reconnect to the Zeus app only while it has work pending. No website is polled.
cookies and one website (optional)Requested only when you approve a website, for that one site. Lets Zeus complete your download as you, signed in.

There is no access to all websites, no content script, no history, tabs or web-request permission, and no remote code.

Chrome Web Store user data policy

The use of information received through browser APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Data is used only to provide the single purpose above, is never sold, never used for advertising or credit decisions, and is never read by people.

Your control

  • The extension’s settings list every site you approved, with a revoke button, and every site you blocked.
  • The browser’s own extension controls can withdraw the optional site and cookie permissions at any time; the extension stops using them immediately.
  • Removing the extension removes everything it stored. The Zeus app keeps its own records, which you manage in the app.

Third parties

None. The extension contains no third-party code at run time, and its build checks this.

Changes and contact

Changes to this policy are published on this page and recorded in the extension’s source history. Questions: info@vernesystems.com. Security reports: see the security policy.
