Roadmap

Where Zeus is now and what comes next. These are targets without fixed dates. Each phase has release checks, such as tests and benchmarks, that must pass before the next begins.

Release plan

  1. Now

    Pre-alpha 0.0.1a

Released on GitHub on 25 October 2026 for Windows x64 and Linux x64, unsigned: the Zeus client, the zeus command line and terminal view, the zeusd daemon, the MCP server with 13 tools, the native-messaging host, a web bridge and a restricted desktop client. A hosted sandbox lets you try the client in a browser. The download engine, approvals, the kill switch and verification have automated tests, as do workflows for public web pages (with a dry run and approval), a file organiser with undo, optional model adapters, delivery to Google Drive, Yandex Disk, Baidu Netdisk and rclone remotes, and a local A2A bridge. The Chrome and Edge extension is implemented and tested against a scripted daemon, but it is not packaged: build it from the source.

  2. First alpha

    Toward the first alpha

What remains: tests in installed Chrome and Edge, testing on each supported system, the full set of crash-and-resume tests, a rescue test against a corpus of real download links, performance measurements on real networks, signed packages and a macOS build. The first alpha follows when those pass.

  3. Next

    Workflows and file operations

Workflows for pages behind a login, sandboxed file conversion, model-assisted file classification, Firefox testing, live tests of the cloud destinations and a frozen version 1 API.

  4. Later

    Desktop app and 1.0

A desktop app that can take approvals on a trusted channel, queue schedules, installers through winget and Homebrew, and version 1.0.

What Zeus will not do

  • Solving captchas or disguising Zeus as a browser
  • Reading browser cookie or password files
  • Breaking DRM or copy protection
  • Telemetry or usage tracking of any kind
  • Letting an AI approve anything

Ogun, the sibling product

Ogun is Verne’s developer platform for data pipelines, data mining and agent benchmarks, built on the same engine as Zeus. It is meant for engineers who turn sources into datasets.

Try the pre-alpha

Zeus 0.0.1a is a pre-alpha release: try it in your browser on a private sandbox, or download it for Windows or Linux. Expect rough edges.
