Use cases

Six kinds of people Zeus is designed for, each with an example of a request they might type. Zeus is only for files you are allowed to download.

Researchers and students

Papers, datasets and supplementary files from journal sites and university portals you can already sign in to. Zeus downloads them with your approval and keeps a receipt of the source for your references.

“Download the supplementary data for this paper from the journal site I am signed in to, and keep a note of where it came from.”

AI tinkerers

Let Claude Code, Cursor or Codex fetch model weights, sample data and release files while you keep working. If a 20 GB download drops, it resumes instead of starting again.

“Fetch the 7B model weights from that release page into ~/models and check the SHA-256 they published.”

Archivists and collectors

Large collections you have the right to keep, such as public-domain archives or your own exported data, fetched and checked file by file, with a record of where each came from.

“Download every PDF in this public-domain collection, skip anything I already have, and verify each file.”

Creators and designers

Asset packs, footage and fonts from marketplaces you have bought from. When a browser download fails at 90 percent, the extension can hand it to Zeus, which continues from the saved bytes when the server allows it.

“My browser failed on the 18 GB footage pack at 90 percent. Finish it without starting over.”

Developers

Release binaries, container layers and test fixtures, scripted from the command line or requested by your agent, with checksums verified before anything runs.

“Grab the latest release binaries for Linux and Windows, verify their checksums and put them in ./vendor.”

Anyone on flaky internet

Long downloads over mobile hotspots or shared Wi-Fi are often interrupted. Zeus continues when the connection comes back, as long as the server supports resuming.

“Download this 6 GB installer. I am on hotel Wi-Fi, so keep going whenever the connection comes back.”

Zeus is for files you have the right to download. It will not get around paywalls, copy protection or a site’s bot checks. Read the acceptable use policy.

Try the pre-alpha

Zeus 0.0.1a is a pre-alpha release: try it in your browser on a private sandbox, or download it for Windows or Linux. Expect rough edges.
